Boondocking Buddies was formed in 2021. Scott and Patti Fuller have been spending time enjoying the outdoors since they were kids. Patti was camping with family on Lake Lanier back when you could camp on any island. Scott grew up in Dothan, Alabama and camped out on Shell Island with friends for much of his teen and young adult life.
From the time their four kids, Brock, Grant, Nick and Sarah were young they all camped. Throughout their lives they have camped all over the country in tents. When the twins were not even two the family drove from Atlanta to Wyoming to camp in Yellowstone. All of the kids were in scouting as kids and Scott and Patti were involved as scout leaders. Sarah got the bug so badly that after college she became a park ranger and in the off season travels all over the country in her van she built out during covid shutdown. Those experiences as a family are what the Fullers want to share. They want to help families unplug and get outside!
As they have gotten a few years older they wanted a few more comforts of home in their travels. In 2016 they renovated a small travel trailer and an idea was born. Since that time the Fullers renovated numerous smaller travel trailers. Oldest son Nick helps on all aspects from design to welding.
Their focus is on helping more families get outside while still enjoying the comforts of home. Not everyone has a tow vehicle to pull a bigger rig and so that has become their niche. When camping all you really need is a comfortable place to sleep and a few amenities.
I felt my lungs inflate with the onrush of scenery—air, mountains, trees, people. I thought, ‘This is what it is to be happy.’ —Sylvia Plath
